Description: This biblical story is set in the time of the Babylonian siege of Judea. It speaks of Divine power acting through one of its creatures, the young widow Judith, who liberates her people by beheading Holofernes, King Nebuchadnezzar’s general. Judith is portrayed as a vulnerable young woman standing alone in the murdered general’s tent. Holding the still bloody sword, she places one hand gently on the general’s severed head.
