Inscriptions: Secondary Inscription: Inscribed in the lower right corner, in brown ink, P.F. Mola” Inscribed on the back of the old mount, at the top center, in graphite, in a modern hand, “s[hiolings] 21 Sigismondo Caula (Modena 1637-after 1713?)” A recent attribution to the Modenese painter of this name, whose brush drawings in brown wash share some stylistic features with the present sheet.
