Description: Mina Carlson-Bredberg painted her sister Anna on a visit to her studio in Paris. Anna wears a plain and simple skirt with the suggestion of a bustle. The bodice has been decorated with rather course bobbin-lace, which is also used on the cuffs. She wears a hat and has a fringe, something which became fashionable in the 1880s. A red cape edged in tassels is draped over her left shoulder. Carlson-Bredberg studied and worked in Paris for seven years. Amongst other things, she exhibited at the Paris World’s Fair of 1889.
